Student Gerontology Learning Community

Picture
The purpose of the Promoting Older Adults from Practice to Policy Learning Community is to increase awareness of the concerns of older adults around WSU campus.  Coordinated by the School of Social Work, this interdisciplinary Learning Community will engage bachelors, masters and doctoral level students from across campus.  By understanding the concerns of older adults, we hope to expose students to career paths in aging.  Given the rapidly growing global aging population due to increased longevity and decreasing birth rates, there will be workforce demand for allied health professionals such as social work, occupational therapists and professionals with legal and financial backgrounds who are especially knowledgeable in this topic area.  This Learning Community will support national efforts to build a workforce equipped to address the medical and social needs of an older population.
